To ensure optimal performance and safety when refilling the butane, it is essential to follow these steps:

1. Choose the Right Fuel: Premium butane is highly recommended, as lower-quality butane is known to clog lighters.

2. Bleed the Lighter: Hold the lighter in a vertical, upside-down position, and use a small screwdriver to press the refill inlet valve until no hissing sound is heard. This process removes any air from the gas tank. It is important to hold the lighter away from your face when draining the air.

3. Adjust the Flame Height: To prevent an unexpectedly high flame after refilling, turn the flame height adjuster on the bottom of the lighter to the lowest setting by turning the flame adjustment knob clockwise. This can be done by flipping out the tab with your fingernail.

4. Inject the Butane: Hold the lighter and the butane can in a vertical, upside-down position, and press the stem of the butane can into the refill valve in 3-second bursts to inject the butane. It is normal for a small amount to spray around the edges of the valve.

5. Wait for Excess Butane to Evaporate: Before igniting the lighter, wait 3-4 minutes to allow the excess butane to evaporate and the gas inside the lighter to reach room temperature.

6. Adjust the Flame Height: Turn the flame adjustment knob back 1/2 turn counterclockwise. Attempt to light the lighter. If it won't light, turn the adjustment knob another 1/4 turn and try again. Keep adjusting the knob in 1/4 turns until the flame height reaches the desired level.
